Samuel Roberts Associates is working closely with a leading provider of business publications for the finance sector to source them their next journalist in NY.
Based in NY and headquartered in London, the company operate a number of successful publications that cover Portfolio Management, Hedge Funds, Real Estate, Financial Technology to name a few.
Role
The role will be focused on asset management activity the North America region.
We need someone hungry for news, who will come in hit the phones and get out to meetings to develop a network of sources, as well as apply data-driven analysis, to consistently uncover valuable information and actionable insights for our subscribers.
Based in the US, you’ll be working alongside journalists and researchers across the globe.
You’ll be reporting on fund activity, providing subscribers with market intelligence on the development of new products and fund launches to significant capital raising, and key people moves.
You’ll also track the ups and downs of fund performance, providing investor relations teams with intelligence on how their fund compares to peers, how different strategies and managers are performing and why.
Your reporting will be contextualised with fund performance and investor data from our proprietary database.
Applicants should have proven journalism experience, preferably with business or finance publications, although we are open to reporters who have built up a strong track record covering news across other industries, or have shown outstanding initiative during internship/work placement roles.
The Responsibilities
Break daily market intelligence about asset management, investment decisions and performance, using source networks and data-driven analysis
Build relationships among the financial community by working the phones, arranging in-person meetings, and attending industry events
Coordinating news coverage with data research teams around the globe
Stay on top of wider industry trends
Skills
Proven journalism experience, preferably with another business or finance publication
Good communication, organisational and time management skills
A journalism degree and/or professional training preferable, but not essential
An interest in finance and asset management. Any experience in industry would also be advantageous
