Samuel Roberts Associates is working closely with a leading provider of business publications for the finance sector to source them their next Head of Hedge Fund Data.

Based in Central London, the company operate a number of successful publications that cover Portfolio Management, Hedge Funds, Real Estate, Financial Technology to name a few. As well as London they have operations over in NA and Asia and have seen strong growth even with the events of the last 18 months.


Role

  • Ensure the strategic development of the firms hedge fund data, in line with the company’s overall business strategy.

  • Inspire and develop the Hedge Fund team through effective leadership and to instil a focus on delivering best in class data and analysis.

  • Partner with Sales and Product leadership to understand customer data needs and drive product development and enhancement.

  • Be the voice of Hedge Fund data.

  • Challenge the status quo, implement change and inspire outstanding performance.

  • Develop and implement a hedge fund data strategy that is aligned with the Data division’s strategic vision and goals.

  • Accountable for ensuring the delivery of existing targets.

  • Review current family of indices and develop an indices strategy to better position these

  • in the market.

  • Lead and manage a value-add team of XX researchers in the UK and Singapore.

  • Set and monitor output targets for the business-as-usual teams in the Philippines.

  • Set processes, procedures, metrics and KPIs to drive and maintain efficiencies and high

  • performance within the team and to deliver against data objectives.

  • Deliver training, career development and management to upskill staff to ensure the unit

  • has and retains a high-skilled, engaged and growing knowledge base.

  • Create an environment of continuous improvement, best practice, and innovation.

  • Champion the provision of high-quality data collection and relationship-building with

  • industry contacts.

  • Engage directly with customers, Sales and Product to ensure a deep understanding of

  • customer data needs and how these evolve.


The Responsibilities

  • Act as an ambassador for the hedge fund data function to raise its profile internally and externally with industry bodies; provide thought leadership.

  • Liaise and collaborate with the hedge fund Editorial team to support data use in intelligence and review market trends.

  • Liaise and collaborate with the Research Reports team to provide data sets for reports along with in-depth analysis and written content specific to hedge funds.

  • Work closely with Sales and Product leadership to develop product capabilities to surface data and on new initiatives to enhance the overall hedge fund product offering.

  • Liaise with the Events team to provide support on award processes.

  • Keep abreast of industry developments around compliance.

  • Play a key role in the Data division management team to help define and deliver the

  • division’s and company’s short and long term strategic goals.


Skills

  • Background and track record within a well-respected B2B data function.

  • Hands-on leadership of a moderate sized team.

  • Expertise in all aspects of research process, techniques, and delivery; highly analytical and data oriented.

  • Able to engage a range of internal stakeholders to collaborate in identifying new opportunities for the company, and to provide intelligence on trends to aid product development.

  • A self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously and with teams located across our offices.

  • Not afraid to get their hands dirty, prioritise focus based on impact, and be able to own tasks from start to finish.

  • A change agent happy to challenge established thinking, able to transition and coach the team through upskilling and higher value output.

  • Good relationship builder internally and externally, transparent and team orientated.
